Are the big cat sightings in Illinois and Ohio real? Who knows, but it got me to thinking about, if real, where would the cats come from? The midwest is hardly rife with large predators.
Then I remembered....pets. People have lions, bears, cougars, wolves, snakes, alligators...you name it, they have it. After the whole Sigfried and Roy incident, People Magazine did an article on large cats as pets. It's frightening to think that, unbeknownst to me, you, the state, your nextdoor neighbor may be harboring some large beast (that woman who lived on McKinley Ave in Libertyville had 35 cats in her house for years and no one ever knew).
